The official nominations are in for the 9th annual American Reality Television Awards and the competition is fierce.
Big names such as The Bachelor, The Voice, and The Masked Singer are among eight nominees for Competition Show.
Other megahit shows also received nominations including RuPaul’s Drag Race which is up for Creative Challenge, 90 Day Fiancé for Docu-Series, and American Idol and Shark Tank for Judging Panel. Many newcomers will have an opportunity to make their mark in the New Show category. Those newbies include Netflix’s Bling Empire, ABC’s Celebrity Dating Game and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, HBO Max’s Full Bloom, STARZ’s Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham, and Six Degrees w/Mike Rowe on discovery+.
Fans will have another tough decision to make when it comes to the Reality TV Moment Category as several memorable events are going head-to-head. A few of the nominees consist of The Real Housewives of Atlanta for Cynthia Bailey’s Bachelorette Party, America’s Got Talent for the moment when Simon Cowell gave the late Nightbirde the Golden Buzzer after her performance of “It’s Okay”, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune when Melissa Joan Hart won $1 million dollars for charity, and Ghost Adventures for the terrifying moment they went into the infamous Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. The literal “underdog” nomination in this category, Wizard of Paws, may have a chance to beat out some of the previously mentioned shows thanks to the heart-tugging moment animal prosthetics expert Derrick Campana, helped a family dog named Toto who had both of her front paws amputated in a car accident. Voters certainly won’t have it easy when it comes to choosing only one of these nominees. Over 30 networks and 80 production companies are represented through this year’s awards with several receiving multiple nominations in different categories. Over 20 Reality shows received multiple nominations with American Ninja Warrior S12 and Hell’s Kitchen S19, both produced by A. Smith and Co Productions, tied for most nominations with a whopping 6 nominations each.
